Chenzhou has made great efforts to develop new energy industries such as wind power generation, biomass power generation, solar power generation, photovoltaic power generation, biogas gas supply power generation and geothermal development; focused on the introduction of leading, flagship and science and technology-based projects, promoted the extension of the industrial chain to wind power equipment, new energy-saving equipment, smart grid equipment and other industries, and guided and promoted the new energy industry to take a new development path of high technology, low cost and low energy consumption. By 2020, the city's total output value of new energy industry will exceed 5 billion yuan, with an average annual growth of more than 20 percent, becoming an important new energy base in Hunan.

Our city has strived to build Chenzhou power plant of Shenhua Group, Yizhang Guoyue low calorific value coal comprehensive utilization power plant, China Resources A plant gas power generation project, China Resources B plant expansion project and Chenzhou Jiahe coal gangue comprehensive utilization power plant; further explored water and electricity, and focused on promoting the expansion project of 3 × 170 MW pumped storage power generation units in Dongjiang power plant; urged Sinopec to start construction of the Chenzhou section of the new Guangdong Zhejiang coal to gas pipeline in 2016.

The city has planned to build electric vehicle charging facilities to promote the consumption and popularization of new energy vehicles; strived to build 100 percent charging facilities or reserve construction and installation conditions for new residential parking spaces and public places in the city by 2020, and build at least one public charging station for every 2000 electric vehicles, and 68 charging networks for national, provincial and expressway; actively promoted the competition and opening of distribution end market and the pilot of direct power purchase by large users, and promoted direct power purchase by Chendian International and China Resources B plant.

The wind power projects that Chenzhou has started and constructed include: "Chenzhou Yangtian Lake phase II wind power project", "Jiangkou wind power plant", "Zixing wind power plant project", "Southern regional wind power resource development project", "Guiyang wind power plant", "Jiuze water wind power development project", "Zhennan water wind power development project", "Dachong phase II wind power development project", "Dongfeng mountain wind power project phase II", "Baiyunxian wind power phase II", etc. The proposed photovoltaic power generation projects include "Yizhang maglev wind solar complementary distributed power plant", "Huashi energy technology company photovoltaic power generation project", "Xinyalin energy technology company photovoltaic power generation project", "Jiahe photovoltaic power generation project", "Tanwu photovoltaic power generation project", etc. In addition, a number of clean energy construction projects and projects, such as "Guiyang industrial park new energy demonstration industrial park construction project" and "Guiyang Industrial Park solar roof photovoltaic power generation project", have been strongly supported.
